Green Note Presents: GENTICORUM www.genticorum.com ‘Stunning close-harmony singing alongside terrifically bouncy, jubilant instrumental work, altogether packing a mighty punch’ Scotsman Firmly at the forefront of contemporary Québécois folk music, Genticorum are the deceptively compact line-up of Yann Falquet on guitar and jaw harp, Alexandre de Grosbois-Garand on flute, bass and fiddle and Pascal Gemme on fiddle and foot-percussion, with all three joining forces on vibrantly harmonised vocals. Delving deeply into their rich native traditions, a blend of French, Scottish, Irish and English elements, Genticorum enrich the mix with their own well-travelled tastes and influences, plus bags of charm, humour and irresistible joie de vivre.
Winners of numerous awards in their native Canada, they’ve also gained numerous fans on regular tours around the UK and Europe, and released their fourth album, Nagez Rameurs, to unanimous acclaim in 2011.
‘They're one of Canada's leading traditional bands, & given their big, powerful sound, it's hard to believe they're just a trio’ The Independent Tickets: £12 adv
