FOLK & DAGGER
Opening for us the earnestly vocalised sentimental pop-prog of the Shallows. Next the quite frankly, SMOKIN' guitarist Alastair James conjures sunny spot where Jamie Lidell's smart licks, Raul Midon's groove, and a sprinkle of motown meet. Afrobilly Jones plays lullabies that sound like little victories, over guitars that persuade you that your round Skip James' house. Next Chaplin sounds like nightswimming, haunting & deep, comfortable & sweet. Its a spread of brushstroke sounds to make a complete picture. Electric strings, old keys, and the odd courageous chord. Christa Vi headlines the night, a slightly newer feeling of painted sounds, Christa's warm vocal has whisky edges, and arrangements echo a spooky Camille. ~ Christa Vi ~ ~ Chaplin ~ ~ Afrobilly Jones ~ ~ Alastair James ~ ~ The Shallows (acoustic) ~ Ticket: £4 / £2 before 8pm
